Bernie Sanders caught wearing “Make American Great Again” Hat
On Friday, September 2nd, 2016 Bernie Sanders was seen inside the Trump Tower early in the morning. Multiple security cameras recorded that the Democratic presidential candidate had talked to front desk staff, exchanged some items, then left inside the Tower. It is currently unknown as to what the failed presidential candidate was doing in the hotel; however multiple people on social media mass reported that the elderly campaigner was wearing a “Make American Great Again” hat. The slogan’s current usage is for none other than Donald Trump, the forerunner for the Republican party in the 2016 Presidential election. Many people reported that the images being posted on social media were more than likely photo shopped or edited. It wouldn’t be the first time that the internet fell for unrealistic shenanigans craftily edited in Adobe’s photo editing program. However after many Periscope videos and a confession from the candidate himself, all the reports were confirmed to be real.
“I had worn the hat in an act of protest”. Bernie Sanders reported on his personal twitter account hours after rumors circulated. “It’s not endorsement. Donald Trump will make American Great Again the same way aggressively violent policies made Russia great again. We cannot let this ignorant business man have his way with an entire nation.”
Many internet denizens responded harshly; pointing out that the “protest” would only lead to Republicans angrily insisting that the Democratic party had given up and sided with Trump’s less than favorable policies. Multiple hashtags such as #MakeBernieSandersGreatAgain, #hatgate and more began trending almost instantly as the photos were posted n websites such as twitter, facebook, etc. Many knock off hats began circulating on social media; some had Bernie Sander’s face printed across the “Make American Great Again”slogan while others were more vile and vulgar. Many companies noticed the trend and began to capitalize on it; such as Khol’s brand new line of hats featuring “Birdie” Sanders over the republican candidate’s face.
